It's that time of the year again and of course it is wonderful! The kids are off of school, snowflakes are (hopefully!) twirling to the ground and you may finally have some free time in your busy schedule. We made a list of all the great activities you can do while on holiday break with the kids. From sledding to laser tag, fun along the South Shore seems to be never-ending! Sledding

Indiana Dunes State Park-Devil's Slide
Sledding is open now until the end of the winter season. The park is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Lemon Lake County Park
Sledding is available now through March 31. The park is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Lemon Lake County Park, 6322 West 133rd Ave., Crown Point

Sled the slopes at Lemon Lake County Park all through the winter season. Call 219-663-7627 after 9 a.m. to learn if the hills are open for sledding. There is a gate fee at the park when a gatekeeper is on duty. There are no rentals at Lemon Lake and the park does not allow sleds with wooden or metal runners. Oak Ridge Prairie County Park
Sledding is open now through March 31. The park is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Merrillville

Sled one of the largest hills in Northwest Indiana during this winter break! The same rules from Lemon Lake apply to Oak Ridge in regards to sled requirements. There are no rentals and there are restrictions on frames. For questions about park conditions, call 219-884-7328.

 

Rogers Lakewood Park
Now until the end of the winter season from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
3210 North Campbell St., Valparaiso

Sled at your own risk through the end of the winter season at Rogers Lakewood Park in Valparaiso. There are no restrictions on sleds and no entrance fee into the park. Ice Skating

Cedar Lake Ministries
Ice skating begins Christmas Day until the end of the winter season from 9 a.m. until dusk.

Crown Point Sportsplex
Ice skating is available from 8 a.m. through 10 p.m. all winter long.
East North St., Crown Point

Both a hockey and an ice skating rink are available at the Crown Point Sportsplex at no charge. There are no rentals at the sports complex, so please bring your own skates. The rinks open as soon as the sun comes up and overhead lights turn on at night for nighttime skating. For information on rink conditions, call 219-661-2271.

 

Midwest Training and Ice Center
Ice skating is available year-round at various times.

Indoor Fun
