South Shore Train

During your stay in Northwest Indiana, you can easily take a daytrip into Chicago by taking advantage of the South Shore train, an affordable and stress-free way to travel.

The South Shore trains travel from South Bend to Millennium Station in Chicago with 20 stations along the way, including local stations in Hammond, Gary and East Chicago.  Parking is free at most stations except for South Bend and Gary Metro.

 

Beach Shuttle Indiana Dunes from the South Shore Train

Enjoy a Green Shuttle around Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Skip the hassle of full parking lots and help reduce carbon emissions by taking a free park shuttle from the South Shore Railroad. Their two, 16-passenger shuttle vans are fully accessible with a wheelchair ramp. They operate on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Bonus, this is FREE!
