The 23rd annual Indiana Challenge, professional and amateur dancing competition, will run from Feb 25 to Feb 28 at the Radisson Hotel Star Plaza. The event is open to the general public and will feature a fundraising "Dancing with the Local Stars" on Thursday, Feb 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Each year, the "Dancing with the Local Stars" portion features professional dancers paired with local "celebrities" to compete in a friendly competition to raise money for a local charity. This year, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Northwest Indiana Relay for Life - an American Cancer Society event.

This year's celebrities are: Annie Fox, radio personality; Marriza Negrete, state director of the Miss Indiana Latina Pageant; Christopher Kosovich, owner of Kosovich Media Group LLC; Antonio Gutierrez, owner of Hoosier Property Maintenance Inc.; and Marvin Rodas, coach at Intense Conditioning. Each celebrity is paired with a professional dancer from a local dance studio. Tickets for the "Dancing with the Stars" are $20 for adults and $10 for children (17 and under). Tickets are good for the entire evening and the public is encouraged to stay to watch the professionals compete.

The general public is welcome to watch as professional and amateur dancers compete in various divisions and dance styles including the waltz, tango, rumba, swing, foxtrot and cha-cha. Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting the local organizers, Tim and Sue Bourget at 219-322-8381 or at the door. For details on tickets and a schedule of events, visit www.indianachallenge.com.

More than 4,000 entries will compete over the four-day event. "We encourage the public to come and enjoy some of the best ballroom dancing in the Midwest. Indiana Challenge is the perfect place to get acquainted with ballroom dancing and competitive dancing for anyone who has an interest," said Tim Bourget, host of Indiana Challenge.
