Hundreds of triathletes will descent upon Wolf Lake Memorial Park for the annual Leon's Triathlon on Sunday, June 4. Leon's Triathlon, known as "America's Race," is a nationally broadcast race. The race steps off at 8:00 a.m. (CST).

Athletes have the opportunity to compete in the Olympic-distance race with a 1,500 meter swim; 23.2 mile bike and 6.2 mile (10K) run. The Sprint course includes a 750 meter swim; 11.6 mile bike and 3.1 mile (5K) run.

Packet Pick-up will be held at Wolf Lake Memorial Park on June 3 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. A Vendor Expo and Demo Day will be held in conjunction with Packet Pick-up. Participants and spectators can try out the newest in sportswear and equipment at Demo Day.

This year, Leon's Triathlon is partnering with Dare2Tri, a Paratriathlon Training Camp for The Injured Military Camp. The camp is open to any injured military or veteran with a physical disability, visual impairment, traumatic brain injury or PTDS. Leon's Triathlon was founded in 1983 by Leon Wolek and was held in Hobart, Ind. It soon outgrew the Hobart location and moved to Hammond, Ind. Leon's Triathlon pioneered the first National Amateur Champion which continues today and hosted one of the first Military Championships in the sport in 1996. Leon's Triathlon is known as "America's Race," because of its dedication to serving those in the armed forces.
