More than 6,500 athletes, families and coaches will descend upon Northwest Indiana, next week, for the 2017 National Softball Association Girls Fast Pitch "B & C" World Series. The tournament will take place at fields throughout the South Shore including Crown Point, Highland, Hobart, Munster, LaPorte, Michigan City and Portage. Teams will come from as far away as Canada, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa.

More than 170 teams will compete in the NSA World Series from July 24-28. Opening Ceremonies and Skills Competition will take place on July 24 in Crown Point. Skills Competition begins at 1:00 p.m. and the Opening Ceremonies will take place at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Crown Point around the Square. There will be a parade, DJ and complete Block Party for the teams, coaches and family and friends.

Games will begin at 8:00 a.m. at all locations from July 25-28. The tournament will continue through July 29 and 30 if needed (due to inclement weather). Wednesday, July 26 all teams and families are invited to Deep River Water Park in Merrillville for a private "NSA Night" beginning at 6:30 p.m.

More than 2,100 room nights have been booked through the South Shore CVA's housing system equating to an estimated economic impact of more than $525,000. "This is big business. We look forward to hosting thousands of amateur athletes in the South Shore each summer, where we can showcase not only our sports facilities, but our attractions, restaurants and outdoor areas," said Speros Batistatos, President/CEO of the South Shore CVA.
