What's better than a great stage performance by some of Northern Indiana's finest dancers? How about TWO great stage shows by some of Northern Indiana's finest Indiana Ballet Theatre dancers!

Indiana Ballet Theatre (IBT) is prepping for two very different but equally entertaining public shows in the month of April. First, Saturday, April 1, 2017, IBT will present Kaliedoscope "Emotion in Motion" at Theatre at the Center in Munster, and Tuesday, April 11, 2017, Cinderella the ballet at Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville. Interested audiences can see both shows for a discounted price of $35.

If the art of motion intrigues you, or the expressions of our body's emotions inspire you, then Kaliedoscope is the performance you must see. Sit back and let the artistic vision of IBT Kaliedoscope Director Amanda Tuohy take you on a colorful journey of life's emotions in this modern-contemporary dance concert. "Company dancers and I are thrilled to present Kaliedoscope and allow their work and dedication to play out on the stage for audiences," explained Amanda Tuohy.

"The audience will recognize some of our performance songs including XAmbassadors "Unsteady," Coldplay's "Fix You," A Great Big World's "Say Something," Andra Day's "Rise Up," Birdy's "People Help the People," and "Not about Angels," and Queen's "Somebody to Love," Amanda added. She said other numbers included music from Piano Guys, Orb, Roisin Murphy, A Fine Frenzy, and more. With the excitement and versatility of television's "So You Think You Can Dance," Kaliedoscope delivers a powerful combination of movement and artistry, which capture the essence of human emotions. "This is the type of show you would expect to see in Chicago and we look forward to sharing this genre with local and neighboring communities," Amanda said.

If you desire a more traditional, light-hearted outing, then Cinderella is for you. "Cinderella was IBT's first full length ballet, and our first performance at Star Plaza Theatre 20 years ago," said Gloria Tuohy, IBT Founder and Artistic Director. Set in the 13th Century, with period costuming, it promises to be one of the most delightful pantomime ballets for the entire family. The production is full of humor and romance as Cinderella transforms from rags to riches guided by her Fairy Godmother and fairies of the kingdom.

From Chicago, Michigan, and throughout Northern Indiana, the cast of 125 range ages and characters, including golden horses, played by our young IBT company members, and fire flies led by the smallest cast members. Complete with wonderfully spirited costumes, and an array of magical moments, the cast talent and dedication bring this mesmerizing production to life. Kristy Victor, seasoned IBT dance member, channels the essence of Cinderella, accompanied by her Prince, Darrell Haggart, professional dancer from Michigan.

Kaliedoscope is April 1st at Theatre at the Center in Munster at 7pm; tickets are $18. Cinderella will be performed April 11th at 10am and 7pm at Star Plaza Theatre ; tickets are $25/adults/children, $20/seniors for the 7pm show, and $15/adults/seniors/children for the 10am show. Special offer for both shows are being offered for a limited time at a discounted rate of $35 total for both evening performances.

If you would like to meet Director Amanda Tuohy and the IBT Company Dancers over appetizers and spirits, attend the Kaliedoscope "Emotion in Motion Reception" at 6pm; tickets are $45 - which includes the 7pm show.
