Submit an Event
Festivals and events submitted on the calendar must appeal to residents as well as visitors to the South Shore. Please provide a detailed description about the event itself. There is no need to restate the date, time and location in the description if the form is filled out properly.
The following types of events will not be posted as they do not have visitor appeal:
- Auctions
- Beauty pageants/talent shows
- Business expos
- Garage sales/church bazaars/flea markets
- Classes (education, exercise, etc)
- Conferences/trade shows
- Easter egg hunts
- Fish fry/spaghetti dinners
- Fund-raising dinners/dances/events
- Grand openings
- Seminars/workshops

Please note: Your event will not automatically be added to the calendar once you click "Submit Event" at the bottom of the form. It will first go through an approval process to make sure that it contains all the information needed to be added. You will be notified if your event can not be approved.

This holiday season, The Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond will feature 6 animated displays featuring scenes from "A Christmas Story". The displays include: Higbee’s Department Store Window, Flick’s Tongue and the Triple Dog Dare, It’s a Major Award, Santa’s Mountain at Higbee’s, the Bumpus Hounds, and the Parker Living Room.
