“A Christmas Story” Comes Home

www.aChristmasStoryComesHome.com

The holiday movie classic, “A Christmas Story,” was based on Jean Shepherd’s book, “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash.” Shepherd was a resident of Hammond, Indiana and there are a number of similarities between Hohman, the fictional northern Indiana town where the movie took place, and Hammond where Shepherd lived. This Christmas season, Hammond will be filled with “A Christmas Story” celebrations, contests and displays. The Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond features six animatronic scenes from the Macy’s window display. Another feature at the visitor’s center is a replica of “Santa’s Mountain” where visitors can have their picture taken with Santa and slide down the red slide, just like in the movie! See the contests and events section for more information.
