Jasper County is home to one of Indiana's greatest wildlife spectacles at Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area. Each fall, tens of thousands of sandhill cranes visit Jasper-Pulaski's shallow marshes on their southward migration. Although the cranes can be seen all over the surrounding area, the best place to marvel at this natural phenomenon is from Jasper-Pulaski’s viewing platforms, overlooking Goose Pasture.
Just as the cranes gather here, people flock to the many attractions in the area. Take in a weekend of golf at the beautiful Sandy Pines Golf Club in DeMotte or Curtis Creek Country Club in Rensselaer. Relax with a glass of regional wine at Carpenter Creek Cellars. Enjoy local artwork at the Lillian Fendig Gallery. Bring your friends out for a special hunting or fishing trip or spend the day shooting sporting clay, skeet or trap at the Oakwood Gun Club. Find live entertainment at the newest hotspot in Rensselaer, eMbers Venue. They hold private and public events quite often and bring in bands that have national popularity.
