East Chicago

East Chicago was founded heavily on industry and heritage. In the 1930's and 40's there were 57 different nationalities residing in the city. Today, visitors will find the city to be engulfed in a rich Hispanic heritage.

The city was once referred to as the "Twin Cities" because a shipping canal divided the city into two independent sections, Indiana Harbor and East Chicago. Guests will be amazed at the thousands of photos that tell the story of East Chicago's history at the East Chicago Room in the city's main library.

The East Chicago Marina is home to Boardwalk Grille & Banquet Center, Indiana Harbor Yacht Club and the very best in Great Lakes recreation. The marina has nearly 300 slips available for lake travelers and offers charter boating, fishing and diving throughout the season.

Ameristar Casino and Hotel in East Chicago hosts one of the largest selections of games in northwest Indiana throughout its four playing levels. Their luxury hotel offers amenities such as 35" televisions, a fitness center and glass enclosed showers.
