Gary Things to Do

Gary provides visitors with fantastic entertainment and recreation options, including professional baseball's Gary South Shore RailCats and gaming at the Majestic Star Casino. Visitors also flock to the South Shore to experience the legendary Indiana Dunes.

Starting in Gary and stretching 25 miles east along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and Indiana Dunes State Park lure millions of guests each year to its sandy beaches. With sand dunes, wetlands, ponds and prairie areas, the Indiana Dunes offer a unique experience for everyone, whether they are looking for a relaxing day at the beach, or finding that perfect spot for a family camping trip.

Gary is also home to cultural exhibits such as the Octave Chanute & Tuskegee Airmen MuseumGary Bathing Beach Aquatorium, as well as the Douglas Center for Environmental Education along the Indiana Dunes.
