Home to numerous breweries and ale houses, the tap never runs dry along the South Shore! Enjoy delicious beers at any – or all – of the breweries found along the South Shore Brewery Trail.
Many of the South Shore’s breweries serve up unique foods and pub classics to enjoy while tasting the various beers. Connected to Carriage Court Pizza in Crown Point, Crown Brewing not only offers a variety of award winning beers, visitors can dine on piping hot, freshly prepared pizzas. Figure Eight Brewing in Valparaiso offers a selection of appetizers, small plates, sandwiches and entrees to enjoy while sampling seven year-round and 35 seasonal brews.
The Devil's Trumpet Brewing Co., open Thursdays through Sundays, offers unique craft beers, including Angel's Trumpet, Uncle Luci and Albatross. Guests are allowed to bring in their own food to enjoy with the brewery's delicious offerings. Chesterton's Hunter's Brewing is a boutique brewery that offers their craft beer at local restaurants and in their tap room on weekends. Hunter's Brewing allows its patrons to bring or order in food and on Thursdays offers fabulous stone-fired pizzas from The Rolling Stonebaker, a big red 1952 Studebaker farm truck that has been converted into a rolling pizza kitchen.
With the craft beer community constantly growing along the South Shore, various brew festivals provide visitors an opportunity to sample numerous breweries' beers while enjoying live music and food sampling. Valpo Brewfest, hosted at Central Park Plaza in September, features samples from over 100 different brews and the chance to vote for Indiana's Best Beer. Three Floyd's infamous Dark Lord Day in April not only marks the one-day release of their Dark Lord Russian Imperial Stout, attendees can enjoy live music and sample brews from all over the world. Crown Beer Fest, hosted by Crown Brewing at the Lake County Fairgrounds, offers attendees beer samples from Indiana, Illinois and other surrounding states during American Craft Beer Week.
From IPAs and pale ales, to porters and stouts, the South Shore's selection of brews will please any craft beer connoisseur's palate.
