Fall Activities
As the days get shorter and the air becomes crisper, the South Shore offers much to do to enjoy fall!
The Indiana Dunes' West Beach takes visitors along a winding trail through hills and trees that will allow you to get the best view of the season's change in color. Be sure to bring a camera to take pictures of the natural beauty!
There are many festivals to checkout throughout the fall. Be sure to stop at the Covered Bridge Harvest Fest in Crown Point! The Lake County Fairgrounds come to life with food, crafts and all things pumpkin.
Fall means one thing for sure - it's time to visit the orchards. From cider and apple picking to hayrides and corn mazes, the South Shore has many orchards for visitors to enjoy.

This holiday season, The Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond will feature 6 animated displays featuring scenes from "A Christmas Story". The displays include: Higbee’s Department Store Window, Flick’s Tongue and the Triple Dog Dare, It’s a Major Award, Santa’s Mountain at Higbee’s, the Bumpus Hounds, and the Parker Living Room. The displays were first showcased in 2003 in the windows of the Herald Square Macy’s in New York City. …more
