The summer along the South Shore has endless possibilities. With our miles of beaches and countless fairs and festivals, the South Shore can become an exciting and memorable summer vacation for the whole family!

Deep River Waterpark will be sure to take the edge off of the heat. Take a thrilling ride down a speed slide or a leisurely float along the lazy river while you enjoy their "simply splashtastic" waterpark!

Live to eat rather than eat to live? Then Pierogi Fest in Whiting is a must! With more food vendors than the Taste of Chicago, you will be sure to find something to satisfy every craving during the three-day fest.

Love live music? Check out Hammond's five day Festival of the Lakes where different genres of music are showcased every night by well-known musical acts - for free!

If sports are your area of interest, be sure to visit the Northwest Indiana Oilmen at Oil City Stadium in Whiting or the SouthShore RailCats at the Steelyard in Gary.

This holiday season, The Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond will feature 6 animated displays featuring scenes from "A Christmas Story". The displays include: Higbee’s Department Store Window, Flick’s Tongue and the Triple Dog Dare, It’s a Major Award, Santa’s Mountain at Higbee’s, the Bumpus Hounds, and the Parker Living Room.
