The summer along the South Shore has endless possibilities. With our miles of beaches and countless fairs and festivals, the South Shore can become an exciting and memorable summer vacation for the whole family!

Love live music? Check out Hammond's five day Festival of the Lakes where different genres of music are showcased every night by well-known musical acts - for free!
If sports are your area of interest, be sure to visit the Northwest Indiana Oilmen at Oil City Stadium in Whiting or the SouthShore RailCats at the Steelyard in Gary.

This holiday season, The Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond will feature 6 animated displays featuring scenes from "A Christmas Story". The displays include: Higbee’s Department Store Window, Flick’s Tongue and the Triple Dog Dare, It’s a Major Award, Santa’s Mountain at Higbee’s, the Bumpus Hounds, and the Parker Living Room. The displays were first showcased in 2003 in the windows of the Herald Square Macy’s in New York City. …more
