John Dillinger Museum
The John Dillinger Museum in Hammond, IN delivers an interactive learning experience for visitors, showcasing not only the life and times of John Dillinger and other infamous gangsters during the 1930's depression, but also tracking the advancements made in crime fighting technology during that time. The museum was designed to highlight both the notorious criminals of the "gangster era" and the heroic men who ended their reign of terror.
The museum includes an extensive Dillinger biography, as well as information on members of Dillinger's gang and other infamous gangsters such as Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. Visitors to the museum are also invited to learn about the birth of the FBI and how agents like Melvin Purvis doggedly pursued Dillinger and his gang through the Midwest.
Also featured in The John Dillinger Museum are renowne historical artifacts from Dillinger's crimes and the ensuing police investigations, including the Dillinger death trousers (the pants worn by Dillinger as he was shot outside the Biograph Theatre), the infamous wooden gun, Dillinger's lucky rabbit's foot and more.
