East Chicago, Indiana
East Chicago was founded heavily on industry and heritage. In the 1930's and 40's there were 57 different nationalities residing in the city. Today, visitors will find the city to be engulfed in a rich Hispanic heritage. The city was once referred to as the "Twin Cities" because a shipping canal divided the city into two independent sections, Indiana Harbor and East Chicago. Guests will be amazed at the thousands of photos that tell the story of East Chicago's history at the East Chicago Room in the city's main library.
Adjacent to Lake Michigan, the lakefront lends itself to fishing in the Robert A. Pastrick Marina and gaming at Harrah's Casino Boat.
