Griffith, Indiana
"The Town that Came to the Tracks," celebrates its centennial this year. During the 70's the town served as an interchange for five railroads, with nearly 180 trains passing through daily. Visitors can view the historical model railroad displayed at the Depot Museum.
Hoosier Prairie Nature Preserve is ideal for bird watching and nature trails. Located in the town's hub, Central Park hosts events all summer long. A Veterans' memorial and a World War II vintage army tank are permanent displays in the park.
Thrill seekers can enjoy air rides to view Chicago's skyline from above at the Griffith-Merrillville Airport.
