2006 Festival of the Lakes

Hammond, IN—The City of Hammond will be hosting its third annual Festival of the Lakes with events scheduled from July 18th through July 23rd at Wolf Lake Park, George Lake and the Hammond Marina.

The main location of the Festival will be Wolf Lake Park. Daily events at this location will include a carnival and games by All Star Amusement Company Inc., children’s entertainment by Forms in Motion, food vendors, a bingo tent, a beer garden by Calumet Breweries and main stage musical entertainment. Water activities include continuous pontoon boat tours on Wolf Lake courtesy of Hammond Marina and the Mik Lurch Fishing Derby. Also returning to the Festival this year is Mayor Thomas M. McDermott Jr.’s 5K Run & Walk and the Van Senus Hot Rod, Custom Cars and Motorcycle Show.

The main stage will host musical entertainment every night of the Festival with nationally known acts. Country Night will open with Bernie Glim and Country Roads and feature Billy Ray Cyrus, Latin Night will open with Together and feature David Lee Garza, Classic Rock Night will open with Steepwater Band and feature Cheap Trick,

Alternative Night will open with The Crawpuppies and feature Live, and Motown Oldies Night will open with Tracylyn Lendi and feature The Temptations. Friday and Saturday nights will also feature a fireworks show by BaDaBoom! Pyrotechnics.

The Hammond Marina event schedule includes the ‘Evening of Dreams’ boat cruise on the “Spirit of Chicago” and a Polka Party.

George Lake is surrounded by the beautiful Lost Marsh Golf Course and will be the location of the Festival of the Lakes Golf Scramble.

The Festival of the Lakes is a summer event that began in Hammond in 2004 and has been continued through its support and success. The concept of the Festival of the Lakes is to incorporate activities for all ages celebrating Hammond’s three main bodies of water: Lake Michigan, Wolf Lake and George Lake.
