Hammond – January 10, 2006 – More than 6,500 visitors representing 32 different states and 9 countries visited the Indiana Welcome Center during Winter Wonderland enjoyed the decorated Christmas trees on display. The 9,400 guests that visited during November 18th through December 31st voted on their favorite trees decorated by local not-for-profit organizations.

            The following were announced the first, second, and third place winners at the annual exhibit at the Visitor’s Center located at I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue.

Humane Society of the Calumet Area          3rd place


The 6th annual Winter Wonderland, held in the W.F. Wellman exhibition hall featured donated Christmas trees decorated by local organizations. Each group was responsible for decorating their tree which best showcases their organization or ethnicity.

            The Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau is a sales and marketing organization that leads and supports the hospitality industry through marketing and development of the county.
