7th Annual Winter Wonderland

Nearly 12,000 guests were welcomed during Winter Wonderland with decorated trees, live entertainment and appearances from Santa. The 11,830 guests that visited the W.F. Wellman Exhibit Hall during November 24th through December 31st also had the opportunity to vote on their favorite trees decorated by local not-for-profit organizations.

The following were announced the first, second and third place winners at the annual exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center located at I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue.

Humane Society of the Calumet Area 1st place

Tradewinds Rehabilitation Center 2nd place

Hobart Garden Club 3rd place

The first place tree, Humane Society of the Calumet Area, was decorated by Lisa Scheffer and Kathleen Pazanin with ornaments that were made and donated. Rachel Hall, Executive Director said, “The HSCA is honored to be chosen as the first place winner and looks forward to participating again next year with hopes of making this a part of our holiday tradition. We enjoy and look forward to participation in events like this to educate the community about the overpopulation of homeless pets.”

The 7th Annual Winter Wonderland featured donated Christmas trees decorated by local organizations. Each group was responsible for decorating their tree which best showcases their organization or ethnicity.
