8th Annual Winter Wonderland Visited by Thousands

 

HammondNearly 10,000 guests were welcomed during Winter Wonderland with decorated trees, live entertainment and appearances from Santa. The 9,438 guests that visited the W.F. Wellman Exhibit Hall during November 26th through December 31st also had the opportunity to vote on their favorite trees decorated by local not-for-profit organizations.

            The following were announced the first, second and third place winners at the annual exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center located at I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue.

 

                        Polish Women’s Alliance of America, East Chicago            1st place

                        Brantwood Home & Garden Club, Highland                        2nd place

                        National Autism Association, NW Indiana Chapter             3rd place

           

            The first place tree, Polish Women’s Alliance of America, was decorated by local officers of the organization.

“We are very excited about winning 1st place! This is our 4th year decorating a tree it was truly a joint effort,” said Delphine Huneycutt, District 3 State President of the Polish Women’s Alliance of America.           

The 8th Annual Winter Wonderland featured donated Christmas trees decorated by local organizations. Each group was responsible for decorating their tree which best showcases their organization or ethnicity. The trees were donated by Egolf Christmas Trees, Kingma Christmas Tree Farm, Guse Christmas Trees, Luers Christmas Tree Farm, Santa’s Holiday Forest and Hessling Christmas Trees.
