“Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown” Expo

Hobart – The “Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown” Expo held at Westfield Southlake Mall in Hobart will be the final See America Week activity hosted by the Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau. This inaugural event will be held from 12pm to 6pm on Friday, May 19th.

The expo will feature area attractions, hotels, and events and is designed to familiarize visitors, as well as local families with the variety of things to experience in Lake County. Shoppers will receive information on attractions such as the Lake County Parks, Fair Oaks Dairy Adventures, and Majestic Star Casinos. See the newest community art project, “Whimsical Fish” sponsored by the Cedar Lake Chamber of Commerce; and purchase season passes for Deep River Waterpark.

Research indicates that because of the increase in gas prices people are choosing to stay closer to home this travel season. “This is the perfect opportunity for residents to rediscover or discover for the first time what is in their own backyards,” stated Katie R. Holderby, Executive V.P., Lake County CVB.
