The city of Whiting is hosting a media conference for the signing of a Ceremonial Memorandum of Understanding between the city of Whiting and Raymond Entertainment Group for the National Mascot Hall of Fame (NMHOF). The conference will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Oil City Stadium in Standard Diamonds Park, 1700 119th St. Whiting, Ind.

The National Mascot Hall of Fame has the potential for bringing a world-class entertainment venue to the city of Whiting. The 25,000-square-foot, multimillion-dollar museum will be constructed as a state-of-the-art, interactive family fun zone with a range of exhibits, activities and events that celebrate mascot fun. The National Mascot Hall of Fame will serve as a catalyst for driving visitors to the Whiting community.

The media conference will open with introductions by Mayor Joseph M. Stahura and the self-proclaimed Emperor of Fun, David Raymond of Raymond Entertainment Group. Details about the National Mascot Hall of Fame Museum will be shared and architectural renderings of the museum will be on display. Nationally known mascots will be in attendance having fun, signing autographs and posing for photographs. The public is invited to join the city of Whiting to celebrate this partnership and to see Phillie Phanatic (Phillies), Benny the Bull (Chicago Bulls), Southpaw (Chicago White Sox), Clark (Chicago Cubs), Staley da Bear (Chicago Bears), the NMHOF's Reggy and many more furry mascots entertaining at Oil City Stadium on Oct. 8.
