Northern Indiana (February 13, 2019) – The emerging partnership with the Indiana Toll Road, South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority and other counties will promote tourism and economic development along I-80/90.

Videos and stills highlighting area destinations and things to do are now featured at the Indiana Toll Road travel plazas on TV screens for visitors. “The Indiana Toll Road is a quick and easy way to get from the Illinois border to the Ohio border, and this is a great opportunity for telling the story of Indiana and all the stops travelers can make along the way,” stated Speros A. Batistatos, President/CEO of the South Shore CVA. He continued, “The partnership is a natural fit to showcase the brand-new Mascot Hall of Fame in Whiting, lakefront casinos, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, University of Notre Dame, Studebaker National Museum and Pokagon State Park, among others along the route.”

Millions of motorists travel along I-80/90 daily and will see a cohesive brand featuring destinations from Lake County to Steuben County. When visitors walk into the travel plazas, they will see striking images and video of area attractions and are directed to for additional information.

The $70 million restoration included the demolition and rehabilitation of eight travel plaza buildings along I-80/90. “We are excited to partner with Northern Indiana Convention and Visitors Bureaus to complete the look of the newly renovated plazas. We look forward to helping increase awareness of Indiana’s unique attractions and outdoor activities through this partnership,” said Bill McCall, Communications Manager for the Indiana Toll Road.

June Julien, Executive Director of Steuben County Tourism Bureau also stated, “We are pleased to partner with the Indiana Toll Road and our CVB peers to represent Northern Indiana and promote the region as an attractive destination.”
