The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority will be hosting their annual Explore the South Shore event on Saturday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Indiana Welcome Center.

The first 250 families to arrive at the building for Explore the South Shore will receive a regional passport of savings from participating organizations to use over the summer, and the first 250 children will receive a free event bag. This is the fifth year the passport will be offered at the event, and it contains coupons to attractions and events including Albanese Candy Factory and South Shore Arts. The passport has an approximate value of $25 to $50.

The event offers numerous interactive booths featuring giveaways, games and prizes, live entertainment, a magic show, a hula hoop contest and free train rides. Throughout the event, a magician will be walking around and interacting with visitors and will perform a magic show beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Hot Dog Guy will be offering snacks for purchase. In addition to activities, giveaways and games, the Explore the South Shore event will provide information on numerous family-fun events found along the South Shore.
