The South Shore CVA and Star Plaza Theatre will host a Veteran's Day event, honoring the region's men and women who serve our country. A Lifetime of Showbiz: The Tribute to W.F. "Bill" Wellman will be held at the Star Plaza Theatre on Nov 11, 2015 from 7pm to 9pm.

Albert's Diamond Jewelers located at 711 Main Street in Schererville has purchased tickets for region veterans. Two-hundred tickets are available at their store, free of charge, to veterans who would like to attend. Tickets must be picked up at the Schererville store during regular business hours and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. No purchase is necessary.

All proceeds from the Veteran's Day event will benefit local veteran organizations: NWI Veterans Action Council, Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana and American Legion Post 94.

The evening of entertainment that will culminate with an in-depth interview with local veteran, and author, W.F. "Bill" Wellman will also include opening remarks by Congressman Pete Visclosky. Other special guests include Jim Cornelison, the "Star-Spangled Banner" singer from the Chicago Blackhawks, The U.S. Marine Corp Color Guard, Valparaiso High School Band, and the Indiana Fallen Hero Placards.

Wellman served in the Marine Corps during WWII, is a published author and has been a driving force of tourism and hospitality in northwest Indiana for more than 70 years. His interview, by Speros A. Batistatos, President/CEO of the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, will be in the "Inside the Actor's Studio" format.

Tickets for the event are available for purchase for $15 or $20 per person at the Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corinne Drive in Hammond; Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana's ReStore, 6114 W. Ridge Road in Gary; the American Legion Post 94 in Valparaiso, 4 Monroe Street in Valparaiso; and the Star Plaza Theatre Box Office, 8801 Delaware Place in Merrillville. Tickets may also be purchased over the phone and picked up at will call at the Theatre.
