Coaches, managers and umpires for the upcoming Cal Ripken Major/60 World Series will gather at the Indiana Welcome Center on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for a welcome breakfast before the start of the games. During the breakfast, officials will discuss the World Series schedule, rules and regulations.
The Cal Ripken Major/60 World Series brings together 10 12U teams. Of the 10 teams, eight are regional champions. The host team, the Hammond Bulldogs managed by Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott, Jr., received an automatic bid in the tournament, and the Crown Point Bulldogs, the Northern Indiana state champions, received an automatic bid. Games will be played Friday, Aug. 9, through Friday, Aug. 16, at the Hammond Optimist Youth Sports Complex.
To watch the games, attendees may purchase a one-day pass for $10 or an individual tournament pass for $20. Family tournament passes, which are good for four people, cost $50.
