Hammond, Ind. (April 25, 2019) – The annual Explore the South Shore returns to the Indiana Welcome Center on Saturday, April 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Families will enjoy an afternoon of fun and entertainment at this free event.
This year, families will enjoy a mascot themed event, complete with visits from area mascots and Clark, from the Chicago Cubs at 2:00 p.m. Children will have the opportunity for photos with the characters and make their own mascot craft at the event.
Local attractions and festivals will have interactive activities, giveaways and games as well as information about events happening in 2019. Free train rides will be available throughout the event.
Explore the South Shore was created by the South Shore CVA to kick off the summer travel season and in conjunction with National Travel and Tourism Week in early May.
Participating organizations include: Mascot Hall of Fame, Indiana Dunes National Park, Edge Adventures, Cedar Lake Summerfest, Bellaboo’s, Albanese, Deep River Waterpark, Lake County Fair, the City of Whiting and a number of other area attractions and municipalities.
