Kicking off Soccer Season in the South Shore
HEBRON, IN- This Memorial Day weekend more than the stars and stripes will fly, so will soccer balls, as South Shore Sports Promotion (SSSP) kicks off the Best of the Midwest Memorial Day Soccer Tournament. The event, hosted by The Chicago Magic Soccer Club Complex, will run May 22 - 25 and includes approximately 200 boys and girls soccer teams. The hundreds of athletes, coaches and families will generate approximately $500,000 in economic impact to the local economy.
Hallmark Convention and Sports Complex continues to grow and increase the size and frequency of their tournaments. Currently they have the largest outdoor complex in the nation, which allows unlimited possibilities for the future of soccer in the South Shore.
Jason Sands, Director of Sports Development said, "The impact this complex has had on the South Shore is a testament to how amateur sport tourism is recession resistant." Since their opening day in 2007, the Hallmark Convention and Sports Complex (a subsidiary of Hallmark Properties) has hosted a dozen soccer tournaments on their outdoor 60-field complex, bringing in thousands of soccer players from around the nation and has generated an impressive $2 million in the local economy. Three additional events are scheduled at Hallmark this September - where 330 teams will travel to the South Shore to compete.
