After a 15-year hiatus, Leon's Triathlon will return to northwest Indiana. Leon's was one of the largest triathlons in the early days of Chicago's triathlon scene, bringing professionals from all over the country. Touted today as the world's fastest triathlon and one of the most anticipated races of 2010, it will take place on June 6th of this year. Registration is available online by visiting http://cms.southshorecva.com/s/event-5922191/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5sZW9uc3RyaWF0aGxvbi5jb20v.

The race would not be possible without the help and coordination between the Hammond Police Department, East Chicago Police and EMT, Indiana National Guard, Sheriff Roy Dominguez and his staff, Indiana State Police, the Indiana Toll Road, Lake County Aquatics Team and INDOT (Indiana Department of Transportation). These agencies have been meeting and working diligently to be sure participants, volunteers and spectators will be safe before, during and after the event. Other organizations that have been working with the race organizers include Luke Oil, Hasse Construction, Calumet Lumber, The Kentucky/Indiana Carpenters Union and Safway Scaffolding, Calumet Breweries, Strack and Van Til, Genesis Physical Therapy and Trek & Fleet Feet.

"Without the help of these organizations, this event would not be possible. The South Shore CVA, INDOT and the Sheriff's Department have also been working together to clean Cline Avenue and surrounding areas to make sure the road is not only safe but cleaned up," said Jason Sands, Director of Sports Development, South Shore Sports Promotions.

Leon Wolek, race organizer said, "We are humbled and honored to be part of a team of individuals and organizations that are passionate and committed to showcasing northwest Indiana on a national stage."

Leon's Triathlon takes will take place on June 6th from 8am to approximately noon at Wolf Lake in Hammond and utilize portions of Cline Avenue and Calumet Avenue.
