Midwest Collage Exhibit at Indiana Welcome Center

Collages featuring Northwest Indiana on display

HAMMOND - The Midwest Collage Society will display their collection of Northwest Indiana themed collages at the Indiana Welcome Center March 9 - May 1, 2009. An opening reception will take place in the W.F. Wellman Exhibit Hall Thursday, March 12 from 5 - 7pm. The reception is open to the public and free of charge.

The Midwest Collage Society has more than fifty members from Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin who are professional artists and exhibit their work throughout the world. The artists use a wide variety of materials and collage techniques to incorporate images, handmade papers, vintage text, photographs, beads, fibers and metals.

Indiana society members from Northwest Indiana felt it would be refreshing to exhibit at the welcome center. "We sought to bring the exhibit to northwest Indiana as opposed to the Chicago suburbs. The W.F. Wellman Exhibit Hall is a great and appropriate venue," said Ann Hupke, Vice President and Membership Chair of the Midwest Collage Society.

The Midwest Collage Society (MCS) is an organization that promotes collage as a fine art and provides exhibit opportunities and professional development to its members.

The Indiana Welcome Center is located at 7770 Corinne Dr. in Hammond, (I-80/94 & Kennedy Ave. South) and is open from 8 am - 5 pm daily.
