The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Indiana State Conference will be held in Gary, Ind. from Oct. 22 to Oct. 25. More than 200 attendees are expected to come from across the state. The majority of the conference will be held at Majestic Star Casino & Hotel.

The State Conference was last held in northwest Indiana in 2002. "We have an amazing set of workshops and speakers lined up and encourage anyone who is interested to join us at the Public Mass Meeting on Friday the 23rd," said Barbara Bolling, Indiana State President, NAACP. The Public Mass Meeting is free and open to the public and held at the Genesis Convention Center on Oct. 23 at 7pm. The Genesis Convention Center is located at 1 Genesis Center Plaza, Gary, Ind.

"On behalf of the team at Majestic Star Casino & Hotel we are very honored to host the 2015 NAACP State Conference and Convention," said Chareice White, Director of Government, Community and Public Relations for Majestic Star Casino & Hotel. She continued, "The committee has worked diligently to secure locations to accommodate the conference attendees; what a great opportunity for the City of Gary to host the convention in 2015 attracting tourism to Northwest Indiana."

The Conference begins on Oct. 22 and runs through Oct. 25. The Conference and Convention cover a variety of topics, including a symposium on voting rights, a health fair, veterans and religious affairs workshops, a vendor exhibit and more.
