Nation’s Best Expected at Local AAU Basketball Tournaments
Highland - The Northwest Indiana Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Club is hosting a boys and girls basketball tournament June 9 – 11 at the Highland Lincoln Center. The Northwest Indiana AAU Boys & Girls Basketball Tournament will feature more than 50 of the top AAU teams from the Midwest including teams from Minnesota, Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, and Arizona.
The Boys & Girls basketball tournament has doubled in size since the last AAU tournament held in February. The economic impact of the tournament beginning on June 9 is $180,000.
Additionally, the Northwest Indiana AAU Club is hosting a Division I NCAA Certified Boys and Girls Sanctioned basketball tournament on July 7 – 9 at the Highland Lincoln Center. Teams consisting of the best unsigned high school seniors are expected to come to Lake County to showcase their talent in front of top college recruiters from the ACC, MAC, Big Ten, WAC, and Big XII conferences.
Toi Baylor, founder of the Baylor Youth Foundation, is the tournament director for both events and is very excited about the teams and talent these two tournaments are expected to bring. “We have the top three ranked AAU teams in three different states coming to the June tournament,” said Baylor.
