Tournament to be played at Lemon Lake County Park, Hidden Lake Park
Crown Point, IN (July 29, 2013) - The Professional Disc Golf Association Pro World Championships will be hosted at Lemon Lake County Park and Hidden Lake Park Saturday, Aug. 3, through Saturday, Aug. 10.
"This tournament is bringing upward of 400 of the best disc golfers from all over the world to the area," said Brian Cummings, tournament director.
According to Cummings, the players will be participating in field events, best shot and alternate shot events and meetings on Saturday, Aug. 3, and Sunday, Aug. 4. Monday, Aug. 5, players will have an opportunity to practice the courses before beginning the tournament on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Disc golfers will be competing for $100,000 in prizes.
With the tournament, numerous special events are planned for players and the public. Special events include the FlyMart, the PDGA banquet and award ceremony at Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza and a player's party at Lemon Lake County Park.
The FlyMart will bring disc golf vendors and professional disc golf players to the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza for a free expo from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The public is encouraged to attend to learn about the sport and various products associated with the game as well as meet professional players.
On Thursday, Aug. 8, the PDGA banquet will be held at Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza beginning at 6:30 p.m. From 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., there will be a PDGA award ceremony. Reservations for the dinner are required and cost $40 per ticket. Any public interested in attending should contact Sandy Basala at email@example.com by Monday, Aug. 5. The award ceremony is free to attend.
On Friday, Aug. 9, the public is invited to meet professional players during the player's party at Lemon Lake County Park. Beginning at 5:00 p.m., players will participate in games and disc golf vendor Pocket Discs will be demonstrating new products.
Throughout the tournament and field events, the public is encouraged to come out to the parks and see the action. Admission to watch the tournament is $4 per person. Those interested may also stream the tournament live from DiscGolfPlanet.TV at www.discgolfplanet.tv.
