Bead Town: Along the South Shore

The South Shore CVA and Bead Town have joined forces to bring northwest Indiana and Chicagoland a two-year interactive art exhibit. The 3,311 square foot mural will be displayed at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond, Indiana and people of all ages are invited to take part in the Guinness World Records® Attempt.
Indiana’s Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch will place the first bead on the mural which depicts iconic buildings, landmarks and landscapes in Chicago and along the South Shore, Indiana. The first bead will be flown it by the University of Chicago helicopter at 9:45 a.m. The press conference and unveiling of Bead Town: Along the South Shore will take place at 10:30 a.m. inside the Indiana Welcome Center’s exhibit hall.
During the press conference, specific details about the project and world record attempt will be discussed, as well as the impact this exhibit will have on the local community. School children from East Chicago, Indiana will also be present to begin the project immediately following the press conference. Representatives will be available for questions and interviews.
