Tyler Malec, social media specialist at the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, will host a free Social Media Workshop at the Indiana Welcome Center on Tuesday, May 9 from 9 to 11 a.m. The workshop focuses on building community engagement and understanding the nature of word-of-mouth on social media.
"We plan to ‘dissect' the Face of Travel campaign taking place for National Travel and Tourism Week, and open up the strategy," said Malec.
Participating members will explore events, hashtags and dialogue between an organization and its followers. Smartphones and laptops are encouraged with free WIFI supplied by the SSCVA.
The Workshop is part of National Travel and Tourism Week, which is May 7-13. Interested attendees can RSVP now by emailing Danielle Sparavalo at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The South Shore CVA will also host their annual Tourism Luncheon: Faces, Places and Spaces with keynote speaker, Bill Geist during National Travel and Tourism Week on May 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Indiana Welcome Center. The luncheon will also feature a "Taste of the South Shore" with food from DOC's Smokehouse, Fair Oaks Farms, Byway Brewing and more.
