Sculptors responsible for the creation of the Flick statue, as well as the Orville Redenbacher statue in Valparaiso and other statues all over the world, will educate visitors on the bronze statue making process during a free Explore the South Shore: Arts & Culture event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corinne Drive.

Oscar Leon, an artist with Timeless Creations of Highwood, Ill., plans to work on the clay mold of Flick's head for the flagpole statue planned for the Indiana Welcome Center. Visitors will be able to try their hand at clay work.

The event will feature local businesses that focus on art and culture such as the Indiana Ballet Theatre, Towle Theater and South Shore Arts. Play games, win prizes and receive a regional passport of savings for the first 250 families.
