Seann Cosey, event organizer, explained Chicago-style stepping, known as steppin', as an urban dance that originated in Chicago. "Steppin' is a unique style and culture within the context of mainstream swing dance," said Cosey. She also explained that walking is a slow dance in which dancers move counter clockwise around the room.
Steppin' in Shades of Blue has previously been hosted in Indianapolis. This is the second year Steppin' has been hosted in northwest Indiana. Event planners anticipate approximately 500 attendees.
