“The Soul of Region Women” Exhibit Opens
Hammond – The Cultural Connections exhibit “The Soul of Region Women” will run from May 23rd through July 9th at the Indiana Welcome Center located at I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue.
The exhibit honors women whose individual or collective contributions weave economic, social, political, and artistic strands that continue to shape the tapestry of Northwest Indiana and the world. The 25 exhibitors celebrate the transformative power of women through their leadership and involvement in improving the quality of life in the region. The provocative cultural icons and sculptures will depict the contributions of women.
“The Soul of Region Women” is sponsored by the Northwest Indiana Quality of Life Council in association with the Region Women Initiative and the Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Cultural Connections exhibit is part of the Region Women Initiative Cultural Series.
The opening reception will begin at 5:30 pm and is sponsored by Mittal Steel U.S.A. The reception will feature performances and will honor Clarence Boone, M.D., Milan Opacich, and Finis Springer, who will be inducted on the Wall of Lifelong Contributors at the Indiana Welcome Center.
