Trash to Treasure Exhibit IX Adds Events
Enviromobile to host events in conjunction with Exhibit

HAMMOND - Hundreds of pieces of recycled art are currently on display for the 9th Annual Trash to Treasure Exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center. Artists use recycled and reused materials such as; wood, scrap metal, plastic and furniture to create their works of art on display until July 24th.

            In conjunction with the exhibit, there will be free environmental education workshops for children at the Indiana Welcome Center, hosted by Lake County Solid Waste and the Enviromobile.

June 17th         10:30 - 11:30 am
Trash to Treasure: Discarded items are transformed into treasure. Supplies will be provided.


July 1st            10:30 - 11:30 am
Environmental Bingo: Play bingo with an environmental twist. Prizes will be awarded to those who BINGO!


July 15th             10:30 - 11:30 am
Edible Landfill: Through this hands-on activity, students use food to build a model landfill. They learn how today's landfills are designed to minimize potential effects on the environment. Eat the results!
