Trash to Treasure Exhibit

Art exhibit dedicated to recycling will open May 26th


HAMMOND - Hundreds of pieces of recycled art will be on display for the 10th Annual Trash to Treasure Exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center. Artists use recycled and reused materials such as; wood, scrap metal, plastic and furniture to create their works of art that will be on display from May 26th to July 9th.

             Trash to Treasure X, sponsored by Lake County Solid Waste Management District and the South Shore CVA, pays tribute to the beauty of the environment and highlights the importance of reusing and recycling. Artists seek out trash, turn it into art and strive to educate the public on the importance of recycling.

            An opening reception will be held at the Indiana Welcome Center on Thursday, June 3rd from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Trash to Treasure X is free of charge and open to the public during the hours of 8am - 5pm (8am - 6pm after Memorial Day). Visitors to the exhibit will also have the opportunity to purchase artwork from the collection.
