The South Shore CVA and Star Plaza Theatre will host a Veteran's Day event, honoring the region's men and women who serve our country. A Lifetime of Showbiz: The Tribute to W.F. "Bill" Wellman will be held at the Star Plaza Theatre on Nov 11, 2015 from 7pm to 9pm.

The evening of entertainment that will culminate with an in-depth interview with local veteran and author, W.F. "Bill" Wellman will also include opening remarks by Congressman Pete Visclosky.

Congressman Visclosky stated, "Veteran's Day is a special day to honor and thank those who have given so much to our country. I look forward to this great event that will honor and thank Mr. Wellman, all of the men and women who have served our country, and the indispensable Northwest Indiana organizations that continue to support our veterans."

All proceeds from the Veteran's Day event will benefit local veteran organizations: NWI Veterans Action Council, Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana and American Legion Post 94.

Other special guests include Jim Cornelison from the Chicago Blackhawks, The Marine Corp Color Guard, Valparaiso High School Band, the Indiana Fallen Hero Placards. Wellman served in the Marine Corps during WWII, is a published author and has been a driving force of tourism and hospitality in northwest Indiana for more than 70 years. His interview, by Speros A. Batistatos, President/CEO of the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, will be in the "Inside the Actor's Studio" format.

The event will be hosted from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Tickets for the event are $15 or $20 per person, and net proceeds will be used for a future Veterans Build home and the American Legion Post 94 in Valparaiso.

Ridge Road in Gary, and the American Legion Post 94 in Valparaiso, 4 Monroe Street in Valparaiso, and the Star Plaza Theatre Box Office, 8801 Delaware Place in Merrillville.
