This week, May 5-11, 2019, is National Travel and Tourism Week! Wednesday, May 8th, is Wayback Wednesday which is a day to celebrate Indiana’s historical destinations. To honor #WayBackWednesday here are 9 historical places around our area, many you can visit year-round.

The sun has begun peeking through the clouds, the smell of freshly cut grass is in our noses, and the temperature keeps rising (at least we hope it does). We know what this means…Farmer’s Market season is upon us! Get ready for summer lunch dates at the market, shopping & eating local, and spending your mornings outside. Wherever you live in Northwest Indiana, there is a market a stone’s throw away. Here is a list of markets and dates for the upcoming season.

You have probably seen, or seen pictures of, the giant metal propeller located at Indiana Dunes State Park. Did you know that it is from a sunken ship located in the bottom of Lake Michigan, that is also the first underwater nature preserve in Indiana? Now you do!

I recently visited the Theatre at the Center in Munster to see a special performance of Love Letters, a one-night-only fundraiser.

Love Letters written by A.R. Gurney was truly a remarkable production. From the very beginning, this play was filled with laughter, love, heartbreak and raw passion. The play was starred Crista Zivanovic, from The Times Media Company, as rebel Melissa Gardner, and Phil Potempa, from the Post-Tribune, as scholarly Andrew Ladd III.

Savor the South Shore, the region’s 5th annual Restaurant Week, kicked off Monday, February 18 and will continue until March 3, 2019! Maybe you have a restaurant you haven’t tried yet, or a favorite that you haven’t been to in a while, Savor the South Shore is the time to check it out. This amazing event means it’s time to go to as many restaurants as possible for lunch and dinner in a span of two weeks. With more than 30 different restaurants participating in the region, there will be plenty of variety and AMAZING deals at all of them.

Winter is here, and you don’t want to be caught with the classic “I’m bored” coming from your little ones. Sure being outside in the snow is super fun for children and many teens, but it can only entertain for so long. So here are some other ideas to get the family together, inside, and entertained!

This interactive, fuzzy, and colorful experience was more than just something out of a child’s dreams. As I, a 20-something adult, walked through the Mascot Hall of Fame I was in awe at the level of thought that has gone into making the building truly amazing for all ages. Not only is everything calling out to be touched, played with, read, or messed with, but it is educational and easy for younger audiences to figure out.
