Dexter The Dog and his travel companion Levi wrapped up their 2018 dog-friendly vacations with a visit to The South Shore along Lake Michigan. The South Shore along Lake Michigan is a perfect pet-friendly destination to relax and enjoy what the Midwest has to offer dog families.

Candy for the kids and beer for the adults – what could be a better start to a weekend in Northern Indiana, right?

When planning a quick overnight with the whole family, it’s important to look for a variety of activities that everyone will enjoy. Our first night did just that!

If you’ve already binge watched every Netflix series you can possibly think of and the kids are pestering you to get out of the house - we have some ideas for you for those rainy days in Northwest Indiana:

As the last days of August slip away, my family and I were lucky enough to get in one last summer splash - literally - at Deep River Waterpark, on Route 30 in Crown Point. While our sons had been to the park before with friends, this was the first trip for my wife and I to this, or any, water park. We had a great time, but definitely have suggestions on how to make the next trip, whether it’s ours or yours, even better.

When I was little each summer we would always plan a fun family trip and more often than not, it would be a road trip. At the time, I was not the biggest fan of being in the car for hours, but today I appreciate the experience. I am excited to share the fun with my children! When we planned to visit Fort Wayne, Indiana this summer I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to plan some fun stops along the way.

Summer is not over and there’s still time to take advantage of the sunny days, warm evenings and late nights with friends and family. Maybe you’ve already checked off the beach, waterpark and a baseball game on your summer bucket list? Here are some more things to do this summer in Northwest Indiana.

Bright, beautiful, and brand new – Home2 Suites by Hilton in Merrillville is the perfect place to stay in northwest Indiana. We enjoyed Home2 Suites in Merrillville, Indiana as a part of a familiarization trip with Visit the South Shore. All opinions are my own.

Have you tried Home2 Suites by Hilton in your travels? We stayed in four different Home2 Suites on our Great Indiana Road Trip, and we had a great experience every time, but this one in Merrillville was our favorite.

I recently got the chance to visit Edge Adventures Northwest Indiana at Deep River, a "tree-top" ropes course and zip line park. It's one of the Region's newest attractions, and it's great. I did learn that I'm not as adventurous as my teenage self and I was a getting nervous as I was putting on my safety gear.
