One of the best things about summer in the South Shore? Festivals! Plenty of food – from BBQ and gyros to funnel cakes and cotton candy and don’t forget about kids activities like parades, face painting and carnival rides. It seems that you can’t have a festival without amazing live entertainment!

1) Downtown Crown Point - St. Patrick's Day Celebration and Parade

Crown Point will again host their annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the downtown with a parade starting at dusk. They will also host a corned beef and cabbage dinner from 2-6:00 p.m. on March 17 at the Fire Station ($10/adults; $4/children and $9/seniors). Reserve your spot today by calling 219-662-3290.


 

While the casinos along the South Shore are smoking, they also accommodate non-smokers. Here's what you need to know at each location:
 

Ameristar Hotel & Casino - Ameristar's hotel has non-smoking floors; guests can request a room on one of those floors when booking. The casino's non-smoking section slot area is in the back on the first deck. The restaurants at Ameristar Casino are also non-smoking.
