Chautauqua in the Dunes brings together individuals, families, and groups to learn from each other and expand their worldview. Chautauquas were a popular educational model in the 1880s-1920s prior to the advent of mass media. Chautauquas were held around the country exposing local residents to world class cultural and artistic performances; lectures, debates, and round table discussions on economics, history, politics, environment, religion, medicine, and science; and community service opportunities.
Join the Indiana Dunes State Park for a contemporary Chautauqua experience. Thanks in part to the Arts in the Parks and Historic Sites Grant program managed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Arts Commission. Tickets are available for the entire Chautauqua experience including camping at Indiana Dunes State Park or single day passes.
