Join the Newton County Public Library, The Nature Conservancy, and Friends of the Sands for a morning of stories, history and nature at the old town of Conrad.
Mary Kay Emmrich, director of the Newton County Public Library, will lead off the trail to visit the foundations of historic buildings and tell about the town’s founder and matriarch, Jennie M. Conrad.
Alyssa Nyberg from The Nature Conservancy will share her knowledge of spring wildflowers and plants. You may find the diminutive Cleft Phlox and several species of violets.
Trails are dry, but wear sturdy shoes for the hike. Bring a sack lunch and a folding chair as you share a meal in the parking area after the hike.
Meet at the Conrad Station Savanna parking lot located on CR 725 N, a half mile east of US 41.
Because this is a Library event, each participant will need to sign a waiver and liability form prior to the hike.
