Masks are required on public transportation, and in LaPorte Lake Counties as well as on national park and state government properties, both inside buildings and in outdoor spaces where you cannot socially distance. Most businesses still require masks and we suggest calling ahead or checking online for details regarding each business’s policy.

Come and celebrate the holidays, Duneland style! Hometown Holiday Outdoor Market, carriage rides, retail open house, tree lighting ceremony, twilight Christmas parade, and visits with Santa taking place in Thomas Centennial Park & downtown Chesterton. Everyone is invited!

Hometown Holiday Outdoor Market
Some of your favorite European market vendors will be set up in the usual spots. Come to buy a unique holiday gift or get some yummy food. The market will run from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm.

Carriage Rides
Visitors and guests will be treated to free horse-drawn rides provided by LaPorte County Draft Horse Association. The rides will last about 10 to 15 minutes, go through the downtown area and run from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Tour Chesterton’s Retail Open Houses
From 4:00 – 7:00 pm local shops, and restaurants will be participating in Duneland’s Retail Open House event. Coordinated by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce, the shopping and dining tour will feature food and drink specials, product sales and extended shopping hours for a single evening of vibrant holiday shopping across Chesterton.

Tree Lighting Ceremony
Help us all celebrate the holiday season at our Tree Lighting Ceremony. The tree lighting will take place near the Thomas Centennial Park gazebo at 5:00 pm.

Twilight Christmas Parade
The Twilight Christmas Parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. This year we have numerous entries including floats, fire trucks, horses, Boy and Girl Scout troops, trucks, trailers and walking groups; building the excitement of the grande finale of Santa and Mrs. Clause arriving!
