October 5, 2018 - October 7, 2018

1215 N Indiana 49
Porter, IN 46304

Spend the weekend outdoors at the Indiana Dunes Outdoor Adventure Festival, which will take place October 5-7, 2018 throughout the Indiana Dunes region. Packed with outdoor adventure opportunities, the festival will bring together nearly 60 activities in one weekend. With support from the Indiana Dunes State Park, Indiana Dunes Tourism, and a dozen other partners, the Indiana Dunes National Park will host this three-day event.

Centered at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center on Indiana State Road 49 in Porter, the festival will showcase the region's outdoor activities such as hiking, paddling, biking, geo-caching, photography, birding, yoga, and so many others. The festival has events for everyone including families, beginners, experts, and those with limited mobility. The only requirements are the desire to have an outdoor adventure and to have a great time!

The festival takes place across the region with activities in Porter, La Porte, and Lake Counties. Highlights of the weekend include paddling trips on the Little Calumet River, Lake Michigan, and Lake George in Hobart, dozens of hikes led by experts across the entire region, and access to natural areas not normally open to the public.

Another unique opportunity will be backpacking in the national park. With support from REI, we will be leading an overnight introduction to backpacking course to Cowles Bog beach and back. Enjoy the sunset from your tent pitched on the beach along Lake Michigan! No experience required and equipment is provided in the course fee.

Many events have limited spaces and will fill up quickly, so pre-registration is recommended. Please sign-up for individual events on Eventbrite here, on the Indiana Dunes National Park website here, and the Facebook event page here.
